I have been on the depo since March of 2013. I was having trouble taking the pill so decided to do depo instead and wouldn't have to remember a pill anymore. I missed so much of my pill pack I was on my period the whole month of February. Since getting my first shot I haven't had any bleeding. I got the occasional spotting the first few months after sex but nothing that I couldn't deal with. My last shot was supposed to be October 2014 but I decided to stop the shot n try n get pregnant. I'm glad I didn't have any horrible side effects like all you ladies did.

The depo shot is not for me I feel depressed sick I get mood swings my sexlife is not the same. I'm done with this I'm looking towards taking birth control pills I have a 3 months old baby and not trying to get pregnant anytime soon I just hope I stop bleeding and back to my regular cycle I'd rather have a week heavy period then everyday bleeding.Good luck ladys

I have been having this same problem for the full year I've been on the depo. Recently I made a break through by collecting info from various sites. My only suggestion is to find fenugreek I took the pill form in the vitamin section literally within a week the odor stopped the bleeding stopped! I was sooo happy although I now smell like a tea bag and my regular discharge smells like fenugreek(teabag smell). I even stopped taking them for quite awhile to see if the smell would come back and it did not. I also douched 4 times in the begining with a vinegar douche by summers eve & I mixed apple cider vinegar in the prepackaged douche. I was taking ultimate flora(woman's care) pills and AZO yeast plus pills. So my daily routine right now is 3 AZO pills, 3 fenugreek pills, 1 ultimate flora pill. It was pretty pricey but not over the top the fenugreek were the cheapest and without then in my daily pill cycle I had results but when I missed it one day of AZO and Ulyimate Flora I had odor. you could also just use the fenugreek You would still see a big difference in odor. I hope I helped alittle but I am so happy to not be bleeding months upon months, smelling myself on the bus sitting down in the car not wanting to leave the house not having to shower a million times a day, it's the absolute worst smell I could describe and nothing made it stop till this! Try my methods for yourself I hope I can help but you should see your doctor to make sure it is not a std!

Hi, i am 24 and started the depo shot 7 months ago after my 2nd son was born. I feel perfectly fine, have not bled since taking the first depo shot, and it is wonderful! I am sorry to read so many negative side effects from the shot, but so far my experience has been great. On occasion i do not like my smell down there but its not bad enough that a shower can't fix. The Depo shot isn't for everyone, but if it works with your body, it's an easy way to keep from getting pregnant. It is wonderful being able to not have to worry every time my husband and i are intimate; i also don't have to worry about taking a pill every day.

My doctor put me on a high dose of birth control pills for a week to stop the spotting. After a week taking the pills the bleeding had not stopped. I got a repeat prescription took the pills for another week that is when I stopped spotting. Once the bleeding was cleared up the doctor conducted a re-examination and wrote a prescription For the adverse effect of the prolonged bleeding.

Yes I am having spitting and also smell that wasn't there before. I had gotten bv and got rid of it and I went back k to Dr and told them that even tho the bv is gone the smell is there and I wanted further testing. I went to the specialist and they found nothing wrong but I know my body and I know this smell isn't me. Idk what to do. Starting to think it's the shot and found this thread.

I have been on Depo for a couple years now and I don't have periods on the Depo typically unless it's right before I'm supposed to get my next shot but I have experienced a lot of BV so much so that they sent me to a specialist and the specialist said that I didn't have it but I still have the stench I never had before so I had to assume that it was bv again so if I don't have bv again then why do I still have the odor. I have to douche everyday with water and a little bit of apple cider vinegar to keep the stench away. With all of these reviews on here I'm going to get off of my Depo shot and I hope one day they will come out and just admit that the Depo is causing this and do something about it.

I got a depo shot for the first time ever in July of 2016 and it was the worst mistake I've ever made. Besides having the most symptoms of all the birth control out there I've experienced ALL of them. From not having a sex drive what so ever, to not bleeding at all (no period) and a really foul smell. I didn't know what it was. I thought maybe it was the heat but even when I didn't go outside and stayed in the AC in my home all day, I still had a foul smell. Even after I showered and cleaned really good down there. It was worse during sex. I thought I could of had an STI. So I went to see my OBGYN. I told her my symptoms and she said shes pretty sure I had BV. So I took medicine for it. I got tested and everything came back negative. I don't have anything. My shot ended the end of September. I have my sex drive back, the smell is gone. I'm having spotting now like a small period and I just overall fell so much better. I will never get the depo shot again and I will NEVER recommend it to any woman.
