I've briefly read most of the womens postings regarding the Depo whom been on it, experience similar symptoms that I have then by either choice or not stopped the shot and still experience health discomfort and side effects.

My first experience with Depo was about 8 years ago. I constantly felt a hormonal unbalance that would send my emotions on an up and down (usually depression mode) roller coaster ride and often made me feel sick. During this time I've lost weight but felt active and NOT ONCE WHILE ON IT AND A SHORT TIME AFTER DID I HAVE MY PERIOD, no spotting no bleeding no nothing. I decided to not take the 3rd shot and just allow my body to run through it's natural course. Since then my health has been on track till I gave birth to my first daughter in 2010.

A few weeks after my delivery my OBGyn and I had come to the conclusion to start the Depo and administrated the shot. I was on it for about a year; again BUT now for a whole year since the shot ... no period, no bleeding, no spotting. The only symptom of a menstrual period I would somewhat experience would be a very small slight PMSing that never lasted long, it was very brief. Last Sept 2011 I was scheduled for the next 3 month shot and decided to not be on it any more. The next few weeks were horrible as I experienced "withdrawal" side effects that sent my emotions and hormones raging and this was worse than when I first started "The Shot". I used to be a smoker and for me stopping the Depo had the WORSE withdrawal experience for my body than to stop smoking....unreal and it's not like I'd want to walk right back into my doctors office and say "can you give me the shot again so I can feel better, it's driving me crazy" .....

Ladies, it's February 2012 and I've not yet had my period, no signs of bleeding or spotting. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact I don't have to worry about bleeding and feminine products and "Am/Did I leak?" but it's just abnormal to go so long without a period, negative test results of a pregnancy.

For all of us who've experienced similar symptoms and effects of Depo-Provera it is more our duty to get the word out there not only for women but for the people who will be supporting these women and their birth control method of choice. Because as long as they are banking money off of it the industry and the doctors will not say other wise. Let's get the word out and educate some of the women and their support.
