I got on depo back in July and only continued it till December, I had no periods for the first couple of weeks then it was just spotting and I have been spotting every day some light and some heavy, it's ridiculous, I have had problems "down there" so many times because of this shot, from yeast infections to bv to infected hair foleclues , and I keeep myself very nice and neat down there and I still have foul odor sometimes and I have been to the doctor already and they think it's because of my cycle , which really doesn't tell me nothing but it being the depo as the problem. Ive been off of it since December and still have spotting and other problems, which I think it's still from the depo wearing off because the doctors cannot seem to figure out what the problem is. So people should not get this birth control! I was fine before I got it.

The depot will take 3-6 months completely be out of your system. I also was on depo for long time and had recurring BV. Also suffered loss of lebido and had depression on it.

I just got depo in early December 2017. Try using apple cider vinegar pills. I used them and everything is back to normal no bleeding or smell

Same here, to begin with I was warned I would prob still suffer with headaches but my periods shouldn’t be so heavy and should slow down which is prob the onlygood thing I’ve experienced as for all the pills out there I’ve tried and I get bad migraines and the implant I had so many symptoms like I was pregnant and my doctor said yh it mimics pregnancy , the only pill that suited me was microghon 30 but because I’m a smoker And now over 35 my doctor won’t prescribe it. I couldn’t have coil as it contains the same ingredients as the implant and the other type of coil was a no no due to my tilted pelvis. So it was a case of try this injection I wasn’t bothered about the weight gain but because I’ve put on so much weight as fast as I have my nurse may not be able to give me my next shot? Which would be my 5th or 6th? For the first time all through me havingthis injection I went 4 weeks with no spotting or bleeding which I thought was great but the last week or two my skin has gone so spotty especially my face then I started to spot/bleed about 2 days ago but today the headache I’m experiencing is terrible and the smell from down below is vile. And reading all the comments on here I’m starting to wonder wether to go for my shot this month my only other option if I stop this is to be sterilised? My body just isn’t my own and the onlytime ive felt on top of theworld is when I’m not taking contraceptives.

You’re only supposed to get the shot for a maximum of 2 years, how did you convince you’re doctor to give it for 5?

First let me tell you about myself and my wife. I am a 44 year old British buy, My wife is Asian, the reason I mention this is because I have heard that black and Asian women can have a reaction to Depo.. Our second baby was born 3 months ago and we decided that Depo would be the best, then after she had the shot I read that it can effect women of different ethnicty differently. I read about weight gain, also. Today my wife told me that there was a foul odour coming from her downstairs region, like a badly rotted talapia (which is a fish) I googled it and found this site.

I have been concerned because 8 days she told me that there was a slight spotting of blood and I wondered if it was the Depo or the Betadine femine wash that her friend brought her back from her home country. (Betadine has health risks and has been banned in U.K. She told me she hasn't used that though for a while and only uses it for itchiness.

I wanted to know if anyone has had this after having a C-section, as our baby boy was too big to be born naturally and are there any Asian women who have experienced this kind of thing ?

Thanks  ~  A very concerned husband.
