My daughter who is 33 has been prescribed Fluvoxamine (Luvox) to treat depression. I realize this drug is a SSRI and I heard these drugs usually cause severe side effects and that it is hard to get off of them. But do they work? Will she necessarily experience side effects? How long will she be on this treatment? Thank you

Hello! I have been using luvox for 3 months now. I experienced diarrhea for the first three days. That was awful, I couldn’t move out of the house. For the first months I couldn’t sleep. I would fall asleep at about 2-3am and would be up at 7 am already. But, I got used to the drug now and for the time being I’m ok. I don’t know how long your daughter will be on this treatment. You should talk to her doctor about that. Pay attention to her behavior and make sure she has regular check-ups.
