Recent research came to interesting finding that people who suffer from gastroesophageal reflux disease also known as GERD do not have increased risk of death when compared to people who don’t suffer from this disease. GERD is known to be related to cancers, asthma, recurrent aspiration and pulmonary fibrosis but this new study showed that there’s no difference in survival rates between GERD patients and the others. Quite a contrary, findings showed that people with acid reflux which is another more common name for gastroesophageal reflux disease have better survival rates than those with daily symptoms or none whatsoever.

Researchers said that it may be that occasional reflux symptoms are reflection of potentional behaviors related to reflux. That may be the case with regular exercise or moderate alcohol intake. This study clearly adds perspective to the risk of acid reflux symptoms. Researchers say that no matter to great number of acid reflux sufferers there’s not so many cases where it can be related to cancer.
