Hello,
I’ve been diagnosed with high cholesterol and prescribed my first statin medication about a year ago. Ever since I started taking it I experienced terrible knee and muscle pain, so my cardiologist switched me to a different statin. Knee and muscle pain did not get better at all, my cholesterol results were just a little bit better and I was experiencing nausea each time I took the med.
So, two months ago I decided to completely stop taking statins and try controlling my cholesterol by using red rice and a better diet, but I was wondering how long will it take before I get rid of knee and muscle pain?

Hello Tom,
it will take a while before statins completely leave your system and you start seeing some improvement in your knee and muscle pain. But you also need to take into account that red rice as well contains substances similar to statins, so it might take a bit longer since your body will still get statins, only from a different source and probably in far smaller dosage since that depends on how much red rice you take daily,
Wish you all the best,
Nicole
