Hello,

Morning after pills can affect your next period after taking them in several ways. And majority of women who take the pill experience at least some disturbance in the menstrual cycle. This pill basically contains a large dose of hormones – the same one birth control pills do. And these hormones are responsible for timing your ovulation and menstrual cycle, so getting an earlier or late period is considered normal. Morning after pill can affect how heavy or long your period will be, as well as cause a number of hormone related issues. Brown blood is actually the blood that came from some source few days ago. The bright red blood is a sign of it coming from some relatively new source. It might be that what you’re seeing now is what ovulation bleeding has produced. It might take you a menstrual cycle or two for your periods to return to back where they’ve been before the pill.

Wish you all the best,

Nicole
