I have been on the ortho evra patch for almost 3 years now and last month I stopped using it and now I have missed my period by more than 2 weeks and I have taken 4 pregnancy tests and all have came back negative! Is there still a change I am pregnant or is this normal when stopping the patch? Please help!! :-(

Hey there. Have you visited your gynecologist? Because I am using those pills now, I mean, I am in the beginning, but now, when I am reading your experience, I can say that I am pretty much concern about this. Maybe this happens because it takes a time for your period and generally your hormones regulate, right? Maybe this is an issue? If you took a pregnancy test and all of them are negative, I assume that you don't have a reason to be worried at all. Anyway, tell me one more thing, are those pills a birth control that doesn't make you gain weight? Tnx in advance!

It's pretty normal for your body to be out of whack after taking birth control and then stopping. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but that is just me. If you've taken that many pregnancy tests, plus using the patch for 3 years, you're likely not pregnant......but I emphasize 'likely' you're not! I would keep watching it and it you start displaying other signs of pregnancy, take another test or see your doctor.

Hope that helps a bit. :-)

Hi there,

I just thought I'd put in my two cents...

Recently, I have been trying to figure this out to. I am 24 and stopped taking Ortho Evra after I forgot to do so when going on a trip. I had left the prescription at home. I didn't get my period at the usual time I do...which is odd. When I turned to the internet, there were many forums filled with talks about how it was just too many hormones, ect. I would eventually get my period back.

Just like pcristin, I had been on ortho for a long time, in fact four years. I never missed a patch either! I also took three negative pregnancy tests--and guess what--the fourth one came out positive. LOL

Luckily, I am married with a wonderful husband who is excited about his "first born son" to come around. However, I just thought I would post this to give other women out there an understanding that even if your period doesn't come, you should always stock up on pregnancy tests.

I was with someone for 2 1/2 years. I think the reason I managed to NEVER get pregnant is because I knew I didn't want him to be the father of my children (bad to say, but we weren't ready). Always have tons of pregnancy tests stocked up. KNOW YOUR CYCLE. If something doesn't happen like it should, be worried, especially after three years of beign on birth control. At that point, you know what your body reacts to and you know when your body starts doing it's thing.

Alright, well, I am at the beginning of my pregnancy. It's not the best time in my life to have a baby, but I have a husband who loves me, a great job, and an affordable house over our head. Considering the mayhem of men I met during my twenties, I'm happy that I have a ring on my finger and am getting started on my first baby.

But to all you single ladies, as Beyonce would say, be careful! Use your birth control! Stock up on pregnancy tests. It's always better to be safe than to expect something you aren't ready for. (sorry isn't the case, because that's not how i feel ;-) )

I am in the same boat now, only I was on the patch for close to 5 1/2 years, I just stopped last month and my period is due this week, but no sign of it yet.....I think its normal though, everyone's body is different so it affects you differently, your body has to adjust to all the hormones no longer running through your body, if I mess my period next month then maybe I will get a little concerned

Hiya I'm in the same boat as you too, I stopped the patch 24th March and was due on around Thursday and haven't, have had strong period pains but nothing, have done teo pregnancy tests both neg. I was on the patch for 8 months, I stupidly Googled it and all I find is terrible comments about people not having a period for several months after coming of it etc, I've been panicking as I've always had regular periods before the patch, just hope it hasn't messed me up as we're wanting another baby, it would be good to know how you get on, I'll keep you updated on my situation :-)

I was only on the patch for roughly 18 months. Stopped last month and had a normal period. Haven't had one so far this month. 2 negative tests. Just give it some more time and if you don't have a cycle call your dr and have some tests done.

I have been on the ortho evro patch for 2 years. I have removed it since this January the 10th but my period is still unstable. It comes on 2 or 3 times a month and everytime am about to due, It makes you so sensitive and angry for no reason. Sometimes it's so heavy,it's last for 2 weeks and now my period is back on again after I have just finished my period a week ago. This is so annoying. Sometimes it's comes really light but I can still feel the anger inside me for no reason. Can anyone help me?

I was on the patch for six years. I stopped in March this year. Since then every single period has been late by at least five days. I'm expecting it now and this is the fifth day missed so I'm hoping it comes soon. Often sex helps my period to come on down when I'm due but this time it hasn't worked. We don't use any other protection but we also don't want a child now. Been together for seven years, not engaged or anything but we know the risk. I've not taken a test because last month I did and my period came straight away so I'm thinking it's just a mental thing.

Hi ladies,

Thought I would reply here as I have read this forum over and over again over the last month probably. I have been in the same boat: was on the patch for 2 years, then I took my last patch off 18th November 2016. Had my regular period, then boom no period since end of November. Took endless pregnancy tests and they all came out negative, so I started reading this forum along with others and accepted that it was due to the patch. Then a few days ago I had cramps so something said to take another test.. It came out positive!!! Have taken 3 more over the last few days and the lines are turning darker for each time. Have requested an appointment with the doctors to make sure all is well. So the reason I wrote all this was to tell you that you can in fact be pregnant, try testing perhaps once a week.

Good luck to you all :)

xx

Hey, sounds like your doctor needs to give you pills to get back on your cycle. Just be adamant with them as 5 months without a period cannot be good.

Let us know how you get along x
