I know this because I just got over having a horrible flu and mixed ibuprofen and NyQuil multiple times. I'm fine. Tylenol contains acetaminophen so that's why Tylenol is bad with NyQuil.

I thought I'd clear this up for anyone since there's so much misinformation. Here's how this breaks down.Nyquil has acetaminophen in it.Tylenol is the brand name for acetaminophen and does not contain ibuprofen.Ibuprofen is a drug, not a brand name. It's an anti-inflammatory.Taking an ibuprofen with a dose of Nyquil won't kill you, but should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.Taking acetaminophen with Nyquil is an extremely bad idea resulting in taking too much acetaminophen which should be avoided.
Good luck everyone!

I took expired prescription 800mg Ibuprofen from 2 years ago and a generic form of Nyquil. I had a horrible cough and headache. In the middle of the night, I also took generic Nyquil (possibly a different brand). I had CVS and Kroger by my bed and not certain if same brand or not that I took in the middle of the night. I know it was stupid, but sick. I was very sick to the point where I do not remember much of what I did that day. I ended up emailing nasty messages via my work iPhone to Management that I do not recall or vaguely recall and do not really know why. It affected the brain many things distorted and incidents out of context. I broke out in sweats. I then was under investigation at work for the emails. I believe it was a drug interaction. It makes me wonder if I took tylenol too reading the post above. All I know is I was sick and wanted to get well and got way worse. I was out of work for a week with some sort of drug poisoning, I believe. It scared me and I didn't realize at the time what had happened. I thought I had a mental breakdown, but it was the drugs. NEVER mix drugs of any sort and NEVER take expired drugs! It does affect your body and brain. Trust me!
