I've been on Effexor for several years now for depression. I've been taking Oxycodone 10/325 (Percocet) and Carisprodal (Soma) 350 daily for almost 3 years because of injuries and pain from a car accident.
So... I had weened myself down to 75mg (one pill) of Effexor because I had planned on becomming pregnant soon, but I assumed that it would take months. I found out I was pregnant Saturday night and haven't taken any Oxycodone or Carisprodal since...so I'm only on my 2nd day without the pain meds. I want to go Cold Turkey because I know these drugs can't be good for my baby.
Last night I cried a lot and had a hard time falling asleep. Today, I'm a little out of it, my head feels funny, I've had diarreah all day, and haven't been able to eat much. This is all pretty tolerable so far. I'm able to function. I hope it doesn't get worse, but I'm sure it will. I've never taken the pills to get high, just to keep the aches and pains at bay...but I'm so scared about the withdrawl. I usally took 4-5 Oxycodone per day and 1-1 and 1/2 Carisprodal daily. Do you think because I took them as prescribed the withdrawl will be less severe for these?
I'm going to my doctor on Thursday to talk about my Effexor. I know that withdrawl will be bad so I'm going to take that a little slower.
Has anyone gotten off of this combo of meds due to pregnancy? Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated! I'm scared.

Please sea a reliable doctor and tell them that you would like to get pregnant and then tell them the medications that you are using, All medications go through to the baby and I am a foster mom for newborns. YOu do not want to have a drugged baby. Its is so hard. Please, there are other alternatives to what you are taking for pain. No doctor will let you go through pain even when pregnant but there are safer items to take. God Bless.
