I am 65 and was diagnosed with polymyalgia Rheumatica about 10 weeks ago. The doctor started me with 20 mg. of prednizone and all of my symtoms were relieved shortly afterward. She has reduced the dosage by 2.5 mg. every 4 weeks and I am now at 15 and will return to the doctor in three days. It seems that when I do yard work outside in the heat I tire easily and some of the symptoms slightly return, especially leg stiffness. The symptoms are not horrible as they were before taking prednizone but I can feel them. Also, when I sit for a long period my legs get stiiff. Is this to be expected when starting the reduced prednizone dosage? My wife says at some point I am bound to again start feeling the same aches, pain, and stiffness that all people over 55 feel. I have not felt that with the higher doses of prednizone. Should I ask the doctor to delay the dosage reduction when I return in three days or should I consider my experience typical and procede with the program?
