I am 79 years of age and worked until I was 67.. As a Manager was demanding work.. I fell in my garden 2 years ago and broke my right arm in 8 places.. Wonderful Dr repaired it all 100%.. Bumped my left arm whilst working in the garden, it got swollen, so put frozen peas on to help remove swelling. 2 weeks later decided to go to A&E for X ray, was not broken, however movement of my arms legs and hip became inhibited.. Then knuckles and joints of fingers etc etc etc.. Tried to cope for a couple of weeks, went for Physio, then decided to ring my Dr, explained to him my situation ( I am too independant for my own good and live alone) Dr. prescribed Prednisolone Tablts 6 to be taken immediately, Hey Ho could move my arms etc etc etc.. I do take a lot of heart tablets. Dr commenced regular blood tests and after resulsts of this reduced tablets to 5 x 5mg her day, however when reduced to 4 lack of movement returned, then reduced to three again similar problem so am now continuously on 4 per day this all commenced in Nov last year.. I have a good day then a bad day slow movement, sometimes feels as if I have 2 sacks of coal sitting on my lower back, restricts movement and slows me down.. I do go in my garden and do a lot of work in it well, as much as I can, have a break if I feel tired... I find it difficult to understand why I got Polymyalgia Rheumatica?? because my work involved a lot of being active, plus brain power...I have alwys held an active life and been self sufficient.. Have three grown up children in Australia all reached maturity and are working in professional capacity. Is there a cure for this?Do the tablets cure it??? Is diet important as I do enjoy my meat fresh veg and fruit, mostly a savoury tongued persson.
