I too had reactions to a cortisone injection. Had an injection in my elbow on a Monday. That night the sight was very sore to the touch. Tuesday the pain had decreased and was beginning to feel better. Wednesday I started to feel bad but was not sure what was wrong. Thought I might have indigestion. Thursday night I took sinus medication and by Friday morning I was feeling very funny. Woke up very light headed, heart racing. And body was hot to the touch. Anxiety set in and I was rushed to the ER. Needless to say my blood pressure was high and my body was tingling from head to toe. The ER doctor said I was experiencing an episode from having too many stimulants in my body. It took 2 shots of Ativan to counteract the problem. I was NOT told to stay away from stimulants. It has been a week and a half since the shot and still experiencing problems when I have anything with caffeine. Can anyone tell me how long this is going to last?
How are you doing now? I'm at 3.5 months since the steroid injection and suffering greatly from anxiety.....
I truly understand what you are going through. I continued to have problems of depression, anxiety, and lack of energy for a month after the injection in my elbow. I also was dealing with menopausal issues. (I am 52 years old). I went back to the doctor a month after the injection and he prescribed HRT (Premarin & Prometrium) on a 25 day cycle. I felt like a new person after a month on the meds. The depression, anxiety, and lack of energy all gone!!! The issue I am having now is no periods and I am wondering if it is related to the injection. This is my third month on the meds and if I don't have a period this month I will have to go back to the doctor. As far as my elbow, the pain is returning but I WILL NOT get another injection. Not sure my post will help but I sincerely hope you start feeling better soon!
last year (2011) Bristol-Myers Squibb, the makers of kenalog cortisone steriod injection drug, added a new warning to the kenalog label stating for it NOT to be used for epidural injection or anywhere the spine. The reasons for this is that it has caused a wide variety of severe heath implications and death.I had this injection by epidural 8 months ago and am still suffering from the effects. This drug has driven people insane, you may read for yourself at this link-

You may also read the warning label at this link-

Many, nearly all doctors are either unaware of this or ignoring the warnings resulting in devastating outcomes to patiants who have not been given the correct warnings of potential side effects. These adverse reactions may be rare, but are life changing and life threatening. If you are suffering from a kenalog injection reaction please contact me in regards to legal _[removed]_.

Having said this, I think it is quite likely that you are going through typical opiate withdrawl. Unlike these damn shots which have a low incidence of causing problems, just about every human being on earth will get very sick if they have been taking opiates for a while and stop.
Btw, the reason I am on this site is because, you guessed it, I am having a nasty reaction to a Cortisone shot.

Anyway, just to add my two cents. I had a cortisone injection yesterday, become hypo manic, pounding heart, headache, didn't sleep until 6 am then when I finally did wake up I had massive heart burn, sweats and puked.

I just had a cervical steroid injection today in my neck. The procedure was fine up until the steroid was injected. The heaviness and pain associated with the injection was worse than expected. I turned sheet white, was nauseated and almost passed out. My vitals and blood pressure where off. I tried to eat after the procedure and found it hard to swalwith and had a very dry mouth. It has been several hours and Iam in more pain then before I went in. Still dizzy and have dry mouth. I hope things improve by tomorrow.
