Hi guys I've been experiencing the same issues. It's about 2 months post op on my second surgery and mineral oil and suppositories help a bunch because of lubrication. I can't wait to not be in pain anymore but it lessened a lot. I still have to go back to talk to my doctor but they've been taking forever to help out after the surgery. Too much fiber is bad because it makes your stool larger. Insoluble is what makes it larger I believe.

I find it somewhat comforting to know I'm not alone in this excruciating battle. I went in for a routine colonoscopy and the surgeon told me we might as well remove my hemorrhoid when he was in there. I hadn't been having trouble with it in the past two years, other than it would pop out after a bm, and I'd have to out it back up). The surgeon told me I would have some discomfort for a couple of days. It's been almost 8 weeks now of extreme pain with a bm and hours for the pain to subside. I have been back to see him twice, he feel bad and thinks he may have been a little overzealous with the lazer. I'm so tired of being in pain. It is effecting my ability to work and be happy. I was told this was a minor procedure. Like hell it is. I would caution anyone against ever doing this surgery. I did have it snipped and stitched before and was better in 2 days. This cauterization with open wounds is barbaric. Thank you to everyone who has shared their experience, it makes me feel relieve to know I'm not just being weak. I just want to be normal again Good luck to all of you. I wish you all a full recovery shortly

I have read hundreds of message boards from the bathtub in the last 11 weeks and this is the only one I'm going to respond to so don't leave me hanging.....
I am 11 weeks post op of 3 complex (internal and external) hemrohoiddectomy. Doctor said it would hurt, it did. Doctor said it would take time. I've waited. Today I cried all over his office. I'm so tired of hurting. I'm so tired of parenting from a bathtub. I'm tired of leaving work early. Bin tired of pain meds every time I pop. I yelled at the doctor today "I just want to sh*t like a normal person". He said it all looks normal and that he's NEVER Heard of healing taking that long which is clearly not the case as is evident here. I wonder if anyone posted here in the last year can shed some updated light. As of now I regret the surgery.

I'm almost 12 weeks post op and still have pain and burning. I had extensive hemorrhoid surgery, internal and externals. Some days are good, other days it's like I'm only 3 or 4 weeks out.... I'm just going to hang in there and hope it gets better in time..... It IS a very rough surgery and then an area you use every day!!!

I am 5 months post op from having 3 stage 3 exteral hemorrhoids removed. The BMs become easier. I found that modifying diet helped a lot. I started eating half of what my normal portion size was and this decreased the pain during BM. I would avoid food that I knew caused constipation or excess gas. I use Miralax (17grams in 16ozo of water) almost daily to keep myself regular. I still have constipation and swelling from time to time, but nothing like it was before the surgery. I use a sitz bath whenever I feel swelling. It was almost 4 months before I felt normal. My biggest fear it developing new hemorrhoids due to my IBS-C. Don't let all the horror stories get you down. I am happy I had the surgery and would do it all again to feel normal.

4 weeks and 5 days today. Finally feel like I am turning a corner after a traditional op which was left open with no stitches. BMs a bit irregular, Sitz bath no longer needed but stinging and aching just after can still be debilitating. Brufen works well if taken immediately and recovery is now minutes not hours. I have gone back to work and I am now taking more exercise which seems to help. Swelling of piles has taken ages to settle and it looks worse now than before they started, instead of one I seem to have 6 but I am sure they will settle. Some people have stated redness, swelling and itching which I have and have begun to treat with canesten, a yeast treatment and the relief was almost instantaneous. Confident now that the fungal infection was cause of my discomfort so once that goes and I can regulate my BMs a bit more I think it will be a 99% recovery. Looking forward to my 6 week post op check soon. For those who are struggling hang in there, it will improve as long as you eat well, get a good rest and exercise balance, have good hygiene and monitor for infections both bacterial and fungal. Good luck.

i'm 10 months post hemorroidectomy for huge internal roids. My life feels like it will never be the same, can't sit on a hard surface at all and am in constant pain from dawn till dusk. Doc says only thing to do is go back in and cut some more. Is he kidding me? I can't believe how much this has ruined my life it was way better just dealing with the roids.

Hello,

I am 8 weeks post op pph and hemorrhoidectomy for internals and externals, stage 3, and still recovering. I was off work about 10 days and then went back 4 hours a day for 2 more weeks. I have a job behind a desk and most days I still feel like leaving early. I do think I'm improving slowly, but it is very one step forward and two steps back.
I feel a small skin tag that protrudes with my BM. Any diarrhea or mild constipation causes real swelling which feels like hemorrhoids! My biggest complaint is a constant feeling like I need to have a bowel movement even when I don't need to. The nerves are firing to my brain that I need to go! I try and can't resist the urge to strain sometimes which just makes things worse. The term is tenesmus. Looking that up and found some depressing literature regarding research of patients following PPH, a high percentage of patients experienced thus. My physician said he will check me again in three months to determine if there is a staple that is causing a problem or if the skin tag might be causing the issue. I have to take Valium occasionally because otherwise it drives me crazy. Anyone else experience this? At this stage of my healing I can say I wish I had not done the procedure, I am hoping soon I can say it was worth it.

May 3 /2017 was my surgery. I had internal and external hemmeroids removed. 7 weeks later in burning pain and ever since surgery, the doc left some tissue that swells, looks like hemmeroids. They get red and hard. I was painfree for 5 days but something went wrong. I'm told to take Prilosec for high acid which may lessen burning stools. I'm leaking pink. In pain. Please say your better. I may have to have surgery again. So scared..

I had my surgery on July 7th and I was in a horrific amount of pain for weeks afterward. It is now August 19th and, for the most part, I am not in a lot of pain during the day... but after I have a bowel movement (not during) it's like a giant shockwave of pain hits me and I'm in that pain for at least an hour. I take ibuprofen which seems to help but I am sick of being in pain too. How long does it take until you can have a bowel movement and not spend hours recovering from it? My doctor said I look like I'm healing just fine and he said he won't need to see me until October but... I am wondering if this is normal.
