Hi, I'm 13 and my period is really late(for what I can tell) because my period is always irregular/i don't really keep track. I'm a virgin and have not even kissed a boy, but I'm starting to worry, but not much, because I keep telling myself it will come tomorrow, but it's not. It's nearly the end of the month, why is it late and what if something is wrong with me????

If you have not had sexual intercourse, it is not possible for you to be pregnant. However, there are many factors that can cause your menstrual cycle to be irregular or for your period to be late, even if you are not sexually active.

Some of the most common reasons for a late or irregular period include:

  1. Stress: Psychological stress can cause hormonal changes that affect your menstrual cycle.

  2. Weight changes: Significant weight loss or gain can affect hormone levels and cause changes in your menstrual cycle.

  3. Exercise: Intense or excessive exercise can affect hormone levels and cause changes in your menstrual cycle.

  4. Illness or medical conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disorders, and autoimmune disorders, can affect hormone levels and cause irregular periods.

  5. Medications: Certain medications, such as hormonal contraceptives and some antidepressants, can affect hormone levels and cause changes in your menstrual cycle.

I presume your periods are stable now?
