I am an 18 year old female who is generally healthy. Over the past 6 months or so i have been experiencing some weird symptoms.I have been struggling with 'depression-like' symptoms for years but recently this has become extreme. I have extreme mood swings that usually involve crying, i sometimes become very irritable, i have extreme anxiety, and fatigue. What could be causing this? it is beginning to control my life and i would just rather lay in bed all day and sleep than do anything.
any input is appreciated
thanks

hi there
i dont know if this is going to help any, but the systems u decribing are similar to what i experienced. I used to come in and out of depression from a very young age, but when i was 18 i moved into my own house which triggered it off mostly, i wouldnt go out, sometimes i wouldnt even open my curtains nd i never ever was in anything apart from my jammys. Then when i did go out, i used to take panic attacks ..and it got that bad that i did eventually close myself up inside.
I went to the doctors who put me on anti depressents, which i may add they didnt help me at all but they could help you. Even councilling might help hen.
Im now 21 and to be pretty honest i still fall in and out of depression but the bad part has kinda passed, and the only wai i could get through it was dragging myself out of it.
Hope this helped a wee bit

You may want to mention this to your gyno, you may have PMDD, i don't know. The key word in your post was "sometimes" so i thought of that.
Are you taking any birth control? There are a few types of bc that are geared towards PMDD not PMS. PMS is typical for many women, but PMDD is not and is much more extreme. PMDD or PREMENSTRAL DYSPHORIC DISORDER can ravage you each month, this may be part of your problem.
