My 17 year old daughter was prescribed YAZ for PMDD. She has a little too much progesterone and also suffers from ADD and borderline Bipolar Disorder. She has taken the pill for almost 2 weeks and the only negative affect has been breast tenderness. I realize it's a little early for her to experience any or all symptoms. I've been reading the posts about how many women are suffering from depression and mood swings as a result of this pill and wondering if it will exacerbate my daughter's condition instead of help it. The main reason I gave my daughter this medication was to eleviate those very problems (she is not sexually active, so it isn't being used for birth control).
If anyone else is using this for PMDD that also has Bipolar Disorder, I'd love to hear from them.
Thank you. :-P

I took Yaz when I was a teen for the same problem and it caused the same kinds of symptoms. I would say it actually made my moods worse. The only thing it helped with was less pain during my period. If you find that her mood swings get worse, you may want to talk to her doctor about not taking it anymore.
