I recently started bcp for irregular periods. I used to have perfectly timed periods, up until about a year ago and then they were light, then heavy, then short, then long. About four months ago I had my period, and it lasted about 20 days (with variance on how heavy I was bleeding). Then it stopped, and I began another period about 3 weeks later. This period lasted for about a month and a half before I went to my gyno for a second time. I'm now on Aviane-28 (basically it's loestrin24). I started this a week ago exactly. I have been taking it regularly and have not missed any pills, but I'm still bleeding and have not stopped since it started two months ago (although it did slow down a ton from what it was last week... but just today I noticed more bleeding than there has been in the past week. I still need no more than one smaller/lighter pad per day, though). How long should it take for my period to stop once I start bcp? Is this normal to keep bleeding once on the pill?
