Bleeding While on Birth Control

this is the first time in many years that I have been on birth control to regulate my periods and help with cramping.

I started my first pack last month and everything was fine, I started my period while taking the placebos and even ran into a few bc pills while still being on my period.  That's fine.

I finised my period and a week later I started spotting dark brown and little clots.  Then a few days later, it was like I was on my period again.  I have been clotting and even cramping at times.  Is this normal?

I should be on my period this week, but I never really stopped bleeding, it isn't as intense as a normal period, but should I be clotting?  Keep in mind it literally has been over 10 years since I have taken birth control.  I'm not at risk for pregnancy, so I never took it.

I have been bleeding for almost a month now.  Is it just my hormones?  Should I call my gyno?
