The Time Traveler's Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger, is...ok. I have a problem with much of the critically acclaimed new fiction in that it just doesn't tell a story. I mean, it does, but it's more of an account of events. Of course, in this case that style is called for.
The Time Traveler's wife is about an artist, Clare, and her husband, a librarian named Henry. Henry is "chrono-impaired," meaning that his life does not follow time sequentially - he time travels. Example - he and his wife get married when he is 28 and she is 20. But they first meet when he is 36 and she is 6, so when he meets her when he is 28, he doesn't know her. The book is easy to follow, in spite of the strange chronology.
I admit I shed a few tears at the end, but I think the author got a little lazy. She is very good at setting and maintaining tones, but the end jarred a little, and not in a good way. Like I said, the book was ok. I got through it without having to force myself to finish it, but I never need to read it again.

It's worth reading. It's original, it's just not one of my favorites.
I read a lot of stuff like that (things not being my favorites, not necessarily the originality)

I hope to post a review of this book sometime this week, but I absolutely loved this book. Loved. Like there are these books that I read from time to time that blow me away and make me fall in love with the characters and the world and storytelling. This was one of them. I don't say that about many books at all.
