Guest: you are absolutely correct. Had cortisone shot three days ago and could not stop urinating. It is tapering off. So, just know you are correct in your analysis.,

I believe this is due to rad*ocontrast used for xrays during localizing the injection site.

Yes it's been a month for me I receive a cortisone shot in my neck on April 5th and I'm having bathroom problems so I can't make it on time and this is the reason why I looked up the information and I find you guys having the same problems .

My hunch was correct. I had a cortisone shot at base of my thumb yesterday, minimal discomfort and immediate relief then but after going to bed at 10:30 I was up every hour thro the night to urinate. About the 5th time I made the connection and looked up it first thing this morning. Oddly, It's not contining during the day . This was my third shot over a period of several years and my first reaction, so perhaps it's cumulative.

Yes, I had the shot this afternoon and seems I have to pee every 30 min-hour. I’ve been sweating so I’m drinking tea or water but not much of it. I don’t know where this water is coming from. I wonder if the inflammation holds the water and the cortisone or main meds release the water via sweat and ursine once the inflammation starts to subside....my guess only. I’m not diabetic either. I do have high blood pressure though.

Yes I had a cervical epidural yesterday within the first 24 hours afterwards I urinated over 50 times and lost 4 and a half pounds I was unsure why the Dr told me my nerve root issue can slow the bladder down so I still don't know if th e shot helped me to get rid of built up toxins or it was a side effect but after being not much more that a trickle for months I'm happy to have a roaring river now.

I am SO glad you asked this. I had one shot in my knee and two in my hip and I've been peeing constantly, like every two hours. Like to the point where I have to lean on the wall because I'm standing there so long. I automatically assumed it was because of the shots but didn't look it up until today and was happy to see this post. Misery loves company! :)

I'm exactly where you are. I've had shots in my arms before but I only got one shot spread out over months. Yesterday I had one in my knee and two in my hip. I immediately wondered if the excessive peeing wasn't a result of the shots because I was going a lot and often. Then I was like...where is this all coming from? Is this the excessive swelling fluid that was in my knee and hip coming out? I mean I certainly didn't drink that much fluid yesterday. I should have weighed myself! :)

I had a cortisone shot in my hip for bursitis on a Tuesday. By Thursday night I started having to get up every hour to pee. On Saturday hubby and I went on a road trip and I did okay, didn't have to pee that often. But the minute we walked in the house I started having leg cramps just above the outside of my ankles and up into my shins. Of course the doctor didn't know anything about leg cramps being a side effect of cortisone this went on all night, with me jumping up to go pee and then fighting leg cramps with apple cider vinegar, powdered magnesium, and magnesium oil applied topically! Eventually I began adding a packet of Emergen-C to the powdered magnesium water. This mostly happened that night and in the early morning hours right after getting up. It was horrid! The pain in the hip is already returning and I only received the cortisone shot 3 weeks ago tomorrow. With the muscle cramping following all the peeing I was doing, even though I was drinking electrolyte water like crazy, I can't see another Cortisone shot in my future because it doesn't work that long and caused such bad pain with cramps that literally wouldn't go away. I could only find one medical reference online that said if you are prone to leg cramps, and I am, that this could be a side effect of cortisone. But perhaps it is not the side effect of cortisone it is the side effect of cortisone causing you to pee all the time and lose a lot of electrolytes. There were many many anecdotal reports of people suffering cramps so bad one even had to be taken to the ER!
