Got my first shot a month ago while on my period. My period never stopped. I've been bleeding for a month. Easily found medical journal articles online stating that vaginal bleeding is a side effect of the injection. But my doctor seemed to have no idea. My biggest concern is my second injection later this week. I need it to be able to walk. But will the bleeding get worse? Will I rupture my uterus or something? I'm a bit freaked out.

Hello, thank you all for posting! I had my injection 3 weeks ago and have just started bleeding. I was given information at time of procedure that this could be a side effect, however, it was my understanding that it would happen immediately, not three weeks later! I am postmenopausal and haven't had a period for four years and am not on HRT. I have seen my GP and told her about the injection, she was surprised that there could be a connection and is sending me for all the appropriate tests which should be within the next two weeks. Glad she has acted straight away but I'm 99% sure this is down to the injection... Never can be 100% though so best to be checked out!!!!

Hi I've just found this site as I was feeling concerned. I started having a period last night with bad cramps and started to worry why after a year and half I was bleeding again just like I did before..then I researched and found this site. I had a cortisone injection in my shoulder 2 weeks ago and my doctor did mention bleeding in some women but not full blown periods with cramps. I'm going to see what happens before I see a doctor after reading everyone's posts. It seems it was the injection that has made this happen. Not only do I have to go through 2 weeks of physio I have to put up with bad period too. Not happy x

Hi everyone. I usual have my period around the 20 something of every month or there abouts. 13th sept I had a steroid injection for severe nerve pain in both my legs and a raised hip due to back problems, for the remainder of the month my period never came. I went to my gp because I was late by 2 weeks. I was advised to wait and if it didn't come make another appt. I was relieved when it came early Oct but it hasn't stopped. It's been 7 weeks now. I had a blood test and was anemic most likely because of the bleeding and something flagged up about my sex hormone so my gp is referring me to get a scan. The heaviness of the bleeding varies and the colour too, sometimes bright red and watery and sometimes darker and in clots. I am feeling drained and tired most of the time. This only happened after my injection but I suppose my gp is just illuminating other possible causes.

I had an cortisone injection over 6 weeks ago for a meniscus tear on my right knee. The doctor did warn me that some of his patients told him that they spotted after the injection. Well, I had not had a period in 2 months. Well, my period came back with a vengeance. But it finally stopped after a week then after it started up again and it hasn’t stopped. It is so frustrating. I have never experienced anything like this before. That is when I decided to google cortisone side effects. And many women said they experienced ongoing periods too. Some for up to 6 months. This is terrible! I pray this is will not be my experience. I pray I stop soon. I am currently looking for natural ways of stopping my period. Hang in there sisters.

I had a hip injection in november. I didn't notice much in november but in December until now, I am having periods 14 days apart as well. I have been bleeding for a full week. My face is puffy and my chest is constantly swollen. I will never do another injection. I am going to have hip surgery in two weeks. Ugh.

This is exactly my case: postmenopausal 6 years and on HRT. Got the Kenalog shot for an allergy flare. 1 week later, "period" started with bright red blood. That tapered off to nothing after 9 days. But started spotting the day after that! This is crazy.
