Hi,
So sorry to hear of your problems. It's funny because that piece of the article you sent that you said you found, was written by me. That is one of my aritcles. But yes, there are a lot of things that can explain why you feel the way you do, when it is cyst related. I'm glad to hear you have an appt. with the Mayo clinic because they are a great facility. I almost went there myself, just for their reputation alone of being able to diagnose strange medical problems and hard to diagnose issues. I'd like it if you could update me. I'd like to hear what they found. I had all the issues mentioned in my article that you found. Just so many symptoms these cysts can create. Just try to write them down...everything you have happen that isn't normal for you, along with the time....maybe document the time the symptom started and ended. Could show a pattern.
Anyways, good luck. I hope you find the answers you need and get the treatment you need as well.
Well, good luck. Take care, and remember.....you can always see another doctor if this one doesn't give you what you want and need, from answers to your questions and just general qualities that are not what a doctor should possess.
Take care and good luck. I hope and pray you get all the answers you need and deserve.
Hopefully will talk to you soon. By the way, all that you described you were (are) living with.....sure does sound like a cyst. That's for sale.
Sincerely,
Maria

I got medical records from my Neurosurgeon who did a fusion on my neck 3 years ago, and I recently asked him about my posterior fossa arachnoid cyst. He dismissed it rather quickly at the appointment by saying, so you got a cyst on your brain, and tossed the CD with the MRI on at, back at me. Of course this was not reflected in my medical records. He refers to my cyst as small while my Neurologist refers to it as huge. My primary doctor says I am a victim of technology! That years ago I would not be aware of the cyst, and would die with it and not because. So, I am wondering what constitutes a small cyst from a large cyst, and when do I seek more aggressive treatment.

I just want to say that you may benefit from reading my book about what I went through with my Posterior Fossa Arachnoid Cyst. My cyst was putting pressure on my brain stemand caused a lot of unnerving symptoms that you can read about in my book, "It's all in Your Head." They (cysts) can be dangerous....depending on where they grow, what they put pressure on and how big they get and how much pressure they put on these organs. I suffered greatly, with all kinds of odd symptoms that after reading and studying about the organs of the brain, realized that my symptoms "were" and "had" to be being caused by cyst. There was no other explaination. Now.....just to get the doctors to listen. They just didn't want to. Anyways, here's the link to my book and you will see how I had to deal with doctors who wouldn't listen etc. Good luck as you go through your ordeal! I can so relate and I hope that you find a knowledgable and compassionate dr.

Hi,
I'm not sure I replied but wanted to tell you that I sure hope they can get all this figured out for you. Sure does bring back memories! You would probably get a lot out of my story...."It's all in Your Head," with the way I was treated with mine. Feel free to check it out at:

I'm sure you will see a lot of similarities there. It's such a confusing time for patients with a brain cyst. You don't know what to think, what to believe, and even though you want to believe your doctor, you also want to believe your own instincts. And that is exactly what I chose to do....trust and believe my instincts. And they were right. Anyways, you can get on Amazon and see my book....even look into the book, and you may be surprised at how much of your own case, you see in mine. I have had many people tell me that very thing.
God bless you as you continue down your road to get help and treatment. May you be blessed with better doctors than I had and have a speedy recovery with whatever form of treatment you go through.
Take care,
Maria

I'm not sure if I responded. Did I answer your question about unexplained depression? Because the answer is yes, I have dealt with depression throughout my ordeal and I know some is related to what I was going through and other aspects of the depression felt like it was stemming from the cyst. Being that it was putting pressure on areas of the brain that help control depression. I hope all goes well for you into the new year. Take care

What info do you have? Having mine removed next week, Doc don't think its the problem, But been checked head to toe and keeps coming back to the cyst., One neurosurgeon at mayo thinks it may be leaking into the spinal canal. And the others say its a 50 50 chance it causing my problem but on the lower side of 50%. I'm going for it though and praying it solves it.

My Kidney surgeon said that I dont Have VHL (Von Hippel Lindau) I hope he's right.
My cyst is compressing 50% of my cerebellum yet i cant convince any of the doctors that this is the cause.

had mine removed 1/29, woke up from surgery. and had clear vision with so many other good thing. 3 mayo docs were sure this was not the problem. but gave me the chance to remove it. Doctors are still sitting there scratching there head. Walked out of there 18 hours after surgery standing up straight and no pain. they could believe it. They had the dear in the head lights look when i walked out. feeling good. scull little sore and itchy. But! Get them kidneys fixed and hopefully you can get to Mayo! If you cant get an appointment just go sit up on the 8th floor and they will get you in.

I hope this finds you well. I came across an old post from you on Steady Health and am wondering how everything turned out for you.
I have a very large Posterior Fossa Arachnoid Cyst, a shunt, along with a Chiari Malformation and brain sagging. The latter two developed due to poor care I received from one paraticular doctor. I would up writing my story, "It's all in Your Head,' by Maria McCutchen

If you're ever interested to read my story, you may find it helpful and when others don't understand.....I do.
Take care and wishing you well.

How can you say it doesn't normally develop in children? My daughter is 16 months and we found out 4 days ago she has an arachnoid cyst of the posterior fossa. It has affected her walking at times. They say it is rare and could cause severe problems if it grows rapidly or bleeds. This will place pressure on the brain.
