My daughter is 14 years old. Her doctor prescribed Doxycyline as a treatment for the bacterial infection that she been having. I was wonder is Doxycyline safe to use in her years of age? What possible side effects can occur from this drug?

Hi! I only know that Doxycycline is not recommended as treatment for the children less than 8 years of age. I know that commonly reported side effects of Doxycycline are: nausea, vomiting, increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight, diarrhea, and vaginal yeast infection. Serious side effects may occur but rarely, like: allergic reaction, blood problems, and liver damage.
