Hello:
My 29 year old daughter has been off Effexor for about two months now, and she is having a terrible time. She is dizzy, has stomach problems, gas, bloating, frequent urination, muscle cramping, lower back pain, periods of crying, tired, depression.... The list goes on and on. These symptoms started almost 7 weeks after she stopped taking the drug.
The Dr. took her off of it very slowly, but if we had known about the problems of this medication she would never have taken it. The Dr. never said anything about the withdrawal symptoms so we had to find out all about it for ourselves. She sees him tomorrow and will give him an earful!
Has anybody else had these symptoms, and if so, how long did they take to go away. My daughter is at her wits end.
Thanks.

Yes I am a 29 year old male who has been decreasing Effexor dose from 225mg to 37.5mg just so my dr could put me on an MAOI! Forget it I have never experienced anything close to these withdrawals which I was told by my dr would be flu like symptoms not the actual physical and mental s**t that in fact happened (and still is) I'm slowly trying to get off Effexor completely and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you going through this as well. I thought I was alone till I read this post and posts like it. I have no answers just my sympathy and good wishes that your daughter and everyone else will get off this poison drug safely and others will be properly warned if unlucky enough to have a dr start them on this horrible trip.
