Effexor XR withdrawals; side effects while taking it also; R

I was able to get off of effexor by removing 1 bead a day. I also have been helped by a natural dr. who gave me natural remedies for depression and anxiety. If you are interested in finding out more, please write. We are also forming a class action suit if you would like to join that....we need your full name and what area you live in. I am a paralegal (27 years) so am familiar with the legal system and how it works. I live in Ohio, about 25 miles north of Dayton. Anything I can do to help take this drug off the market would make me feel better.

I have been reading these posts, All I can say is OMG, all of these posts have brought up a lot of emotions for me.  I feel for each and every one of you that have gone through this.  

I took Effexor XR for since 2004-2005, I had no idea that this drug was such a poison.  in 2011 I got the courage, thanks to my wife, to get off of the drug.  The only problem was that I quit cold turkey.  I suffered the hellish nightmare that everyone else has described in these posts.  I found this forum today, because I have been off of it for a year now, and I still suffer the dizziness, and severe anxiety and crying spells.  They are not as frequent as they used to be.  It's so frustrating though that after a year I still have withdrawl symptoms.  

This drug made me feel so numb, and unfeeling.  I basically coasted through life.  I have forgotten some parts of my life, due to this drug.  I am 38 years old, and unfortunately the parts of my life that are forgotten are the good parts with my kids growing up, and special occasions with my children.  I have suffered at the hands of this drug for too long.  

I appreciate everyone that posted their stories on this site.  It's good to know that I am not alone in all of this.  

i was on effexor for about 10 years. i weened myself till i got down to 37.5.  then i would open up the pill and take even smaller amounts. till i was taken like 8 little dots. did this for about 3 weeks.  then every other day. till i didnt really feel any afects.  then i stopped completly.  i had maybe 1 day of brain fog.  and that was it.  ive been completly off them for 2 months. and feel better then i have in many years.  hope this helps

If you know of any lawyer who could help all of us, it would be greatly appreciated. We need to get this awful drug off the market. I'm sure there are many more people who haven't even found this site that are suffering. Let me know if you find anyone since you are a paralegal. Wished we could give our emails so we could contact one another, but since they won't allow it, we have to go through here. Really appreciate your contacting this site.

I also weaned myself off my removing the beads and had no side effects. There is permanent damage from being on it for 12 years.....memory, insomnia, irritation, brain fog, etc., but I am so happy to be off of it too. We are still hoping we can get together a class action suit.

Hi Kari, I left home without my effexor 112.5 after 4days, I got dreadful cold sweats and my brain went mad seeing colours eveytime I closed my eyes, disoriented hard to get out of the bed, dizziness when I did couldn't get to the bathroom, couldn't find the lights. A nightmare, had to rush home, took another 3 nights to get back to normal.

Rotten drug, should be banned.

Is there a way you can help all of the people on this site. We have to get this drug off the market. We have been turned down by other lawyers. I have just about given up. If you know of anyone or anyway, you hellp would be appreciated. Keep in touch. Maybe we could do facebook (privately) to get our information...emails, etc. Let me know...I haven't done it, not sure how that would work. I'm determined to get this drug off the market because of the destruction it has caused to many people.

Removing 1 more bead each day was the only way I was able to get off of this drug. Congrats. that you did it the same way. It is the only way that works. Nothing else works, believe me....I tried them all after being on it for 12 years. Now my goal is to help others to get off of it without destroying themselves.

I can't thank you enough for your posting. I have been on efexor for a yr and am currently taking 150g. I recently lost my job and no longer have insurance so I went through my family doctor and am getting them free through the pharmaceutical company. They haven't arrived yet and I have been off for 4 days! At first I thought I had a flu like bug? Then I went on line and I was shocked! No pun intended with the God awful shock sensations! I agree with everything you had posted. Before Efexor I was on Celexa for many years. To this day I don't know if I even have clinical depression? I am a recovering alcoholic and sober for 8 yrs. I am sweating writing this as my body temp is changing every minute! The meds should be arriving anyday but I don't know if I should go back on them????? I never wish these withdrawal symptons on anyone!

Hi, We are trying to set up a class action suit for all the suffering that has gone on.  You will probably have to go back on it and then wean yourself off with 1 or at least 2 beads a day. I now am on natural things from a homeopathic dr. and only use them when needed. I was on it for 12years and this was the only way it worked for me. If you have any other questions,please contact me. I too have been trying to wean myself off of Exxexor XR and cannot get lower than 75mg without terrible side effects. I would be very interested in joining the class action suit you may have set up.

It is not possible to get off by lowering your dose. The only way I got off successfully with to remove 1 bead more each day. It's probably possible removing 2, but I didn't want to take any chances. Otherwise the side effects are there.
I have been off now for at least 6 months and am only using natural things as needed....no everyday. This is one of the worst ones to get off of. I tried it the other way..lowering dosages and wanted to commit suicide. That is when I decided to look into a natural dr.....who gave me the answer I was looking for.
