I talked with my doctor and told him my symptoms. Instead of helping me get off Klonopin,, he wants to increase the dose. After four years of .25 mg x three a day, I don't think so. I used to have panic attacks maybe twice a month. He told me to take .50 mg twice a day to prevent them. Four years later, I spoke with a psychiatrist and he said to go off slowly. It has been over a year and now I am down to the .25 mg three times a day and spacing them further apart. Used to be five hours, pop a pill, now it's six to seven hours apart. Even with the slow lower dose, there is withdrawal. My next drop in dose is at the end of the month. I go to eight hours apart. Then, after another six weeks of hell, crying, depression, crabbiness, I drop one pill completely. It is a very slow process but I am determined to make it. please talk to your doctors! Withdrawal alone causes depression and anxiety! It also makes you want to pop that one extra pill because you know it will fix the booboo! Don't let this drug rule you! My doctors told me I have to start shaving micrograms off the two pills after another six weeks. It may take another year to be free but I am willing to go the distance to get my life back. I don't know what caused my panic attacks in the first place bit Klonopin was NOT the best choice! I have lost all family and friends while going through this but I will have ME back!
