hello my name is bruce i'm scheduled for this surgery on april 15th of this year. I have to admit I'm pretty nervous, heck i'm scared call it what it really is. I have not yet been able to talk to anyone who has had this surgery personally until i found this website. Im having my 4th 5th 6th bolted to my 7th disc with a titanium plate. Anterior Cervical discetomy fusion. i have 2 breaks in my neck I was involved in a accident in January of this year and had severe whiplash which had injured my neck (broke in 2 places) I've had CTs MRIs and my neourlogist said that I was lucky I wasnt paralized now. Im a contractor (roofer) by trade, I will probably never be able to do that again. Now that your caught up, I have a terriffic Neourlogist, he is one of the Indiana Spine and Brain Specialist. I do not feel that he has pressured me thus far at all, however i am displaying symptons that he said would be to come if I didn't have the surgery, my legs hurt jerk, and I have been having severe pain in my left arm and on the left side of neck, it seems like it wants to keep drawing like it wants my left ear to lay on my left shouder I cant have that. My doctor is going to use a new adhesive called "bmp" because I'm a smoker for healing purposes. I'm more concerned about being able to sawallow. I cant get over having to live with a lump in my throat for the rest of my life. Does it get any better? and the pain of recovery? Is it as bad as what I'm going through right now? What and how long can I expect in the recovery stage?
