how much diphenhydramine is an overdose?

Don't make sh*t up.  Drug overdoses aren't something cool to invent.  I'm sorry about your sister, but unless she is allergic to diphenhydramine, she did not die from it.  In fact, save for one INFANT, no one has ever died from Benadryl (alone, I'm sure legions of simpletons have died operating machinery while 'dryled.)  I took 350 milligrams about an hour and a half ago and am relaxed.  It also may be noteworthy to add that I take diphenhydramine every single day, and 350 migs isn't close to half my maximum dosage.  Humans do develop a tolerance to the depressant effects of 'drylin, however I've taken over 300 mgs with absolutely no tolerance... personally, I think diphenhydramine is the best "partner" chemical of them all!  I am prescribed suboxone, an opioid (for the uninitiated), and taking a benny an hour before really boosts the effects.  After adderall study sessions, nothing (short of dope and phenobarbital) beats diphenhydramine in precipitating somnolence.  

I would like to know for those who OD'ed on the stuff, did it make you stop sneezing, or your nose stop running?

Firstly DPH below 1000mg does not kill you(again depends on weight of an individual) saying that toying with antihistamines is a very dangerous thing to do.I was really amazed to read people surviving a 2500mg -3000mg dose. Guys suicide on benadryl is a dumb idea...
A dose around 75-100mg will give u a sound sleep but dont overdo it...
Other important thing DPH is NOT a hallucinogen NOR a psychedelic.At higher dosage it acts as a deliriant(its one of the shittiest drugs known to man).
the colinergic mechanism of the drug makes it impossible to distinguish reality from delusions.(U hear nasty voices,view hugh spiders crawling over u,sleep in ur bathroom thinking it as ur bed ..see inexisting persons and talk to them etc).DPH is not fun.(physical effects suck cotton mouth,heavy feeling in ur body..irritating numbness in peripheral organs)
Special note for people with tylenol stuff...u wont die with DPH but certainly acteaminophen will shoot ur liver..at high dose if u r lucky enough u die...if not u survive most painful couple of months in ur lyf before u die...liver transplants are few...u will be lucky enough to get a new one if u deliberately shoot urs up.
So people looking for cheap OTC high...try robo tripping insted(not kidding)DXM is safer than DPH and even more fun..although I dont promote recreational use of drugs..one should be allowed to experiment with things ..if we are mature enough to handle their good or bad experiences.

okay so my fiance took a full bottle of  benaddryl a 40 ounce and it didnt do anything bad.. he never gets drunk but that wasnt the casee that ttime he was so funny hes fine and is in perfect condistion.. so i would say dont do thiis but wats the worestt thatts gunna happen you trip a lil

Why are you amazed that people survived a 2500mg - 3000mg dose?
If I understand your reply correctly, it would take 15,750mg to kill a person weighing 45 kg. This seems like an extremely large amount. I thought the fatal dose was about 4000mg. Could you please respond to me as soon as possible? Thank you for your help.

Lethal dose is not calculated in humans!!..its done only in rats...Now LD50 of diphenhydramine in rats is 500mg/kg..u could refer to

however in humans(according to their metabolism,enzymatic actions etc) for diphenhydramine the calculation is 0.7*mg/kg dosage in rats which shall be 0.7*500=350 mg/kg
However this is a theortical lethal dose....due to acute drug toxicity....HOWEVER MOST DRUG RELATED DEATHS ARE DUE TO COMPLICATIONS THAT DRUGS CREATE IN OTHER ORGAN SYSTEMS..AND NOT ACTUAL TOXICITY...this means that..u can die of an overdose drug much before its lethal dose...due to problems caused by the drugs to other organs...which may not necessarily be drug toxicity....
A very good example of this shall be Acetaminophen(paracetamol)...the LD50 of it is..around 1944mg/kg ...however even doses of 200mg/kg in humans..will cause acute liver failure.....and will result in death
the study on lethal dose is yet not very comprehensive..as a result much questions are unanswered in this area......

I call BS 200mg of diphenhydramine will definitely not kill you. You're still safe around 300-500. At 1000 mg is when it says you should be hospitalized.

As someone who has had sleep issues for about 20 yrs. When working steadily and having the ability to go to a doctor, I literally have went through every sleep medication available to date. Nothing seemed to work at just the recommend dose. I literally would have to take 3 or 4 times the recommend dose. Over the years I have had to resort to diphenhydramine. And it literally takes 20- 25mg, or 10-50mg for me to go to sleep. No joke, not kidding, no LOL. Because my body has become tolerant of so many sleeping meds.

I'm a 130 pound female who has sufferd from sleep issues since i was a child. I started off with a natural herb from a local natural herb store, one a pill and the other liquid you mix with juice. While it did make me tired, it didn't keep me asleep all night. I've been using nyquil, benedryl and anything else to make me tired since then, and about 3 months ago came down with a swollen gland which didn't let me eat for a week up until surgery, which then the doctor gave me Xanax. He told me 1 at night, which i followed for a week then started 2-3 a night. When I ran out, I didn't go back because my boyfriend and family didn't want me to become addicted to relying on it, so I started using benedryl again after visiting the doctor and him giving me the clear to use it as much as i needed. I started off with 4 pills at a time for a month, then 6 & 7. My boyfriend hates that I take so many, but doesn't understand my allergies and asthma and how bad it is at night. Well last week I came down with the stomach flu and had a couple asthma attacks and got my lady time, which i used benedryl and hydrocodion.as if fhats not enough, just 2 days ago discoverd a huge red inflammed right nostril, which now is covering my whole right nose with a red , painful, hard bump. After being so sore, I decided to bump my benedryl dose to 8 and ontop take 2 nyquil pills. Laying next to my boyfriend, I felt my heart start to pump and slow bad, which is never a problem for me sinxe I have a tolerance to most medicine. I'm laying in bed right now, basically here to say, know your limits guys. OD'Ing is NOT fun, and you shouldn't do it because tou like the feelinf or want to kill yourself. Everyones body is different and everyones metabolism is different as well and therefore the amount in which one could overdose on, another may not. It was a year ago in which I ended up taking 5 25mg diph.. and 30mins after intake I was unable to use my legs, experienced shallow breathing and was on the verge of experiencing a seizure. Luckily my sister was present where I did everything in my power to drink water and eat bread to decrease the absorption rate of the Diphen. Therefore it really based on each individual taking it.
