So im very angry and baffled and whats happening to me. Basically i suffer from physical anxiety symptoms but i don't have any anxiety or worried about anything. The main problem is my breathing, i don't have any shortness of breath, no conditions no problems doing exercise whatsoever BUT i have this thing where i feel i can feel im hyperventilation cos my breathing from the top of my lungs, pains everywhere in my back and chest, dizziness etc and only subside when i do breathing techniques for a anything over an hour. Its stopping me doing most things. Been doctors who, done the tests and they say its anxiety. Meds don't do much for me, but ive been like this near 14 years now, anyone have any advice ? Many thanks.

Hello, guest.

It's not uncommon for individuals to have physical symptoms of anxiety, like hyperventilation, chest and back pain, or dizziness, even in the absence of conscious feelings of anxiety or stress. The body can sometimes respond to subconscious stressors or become conditioned to react in certain ways due to past experiences.

Since you've mentioned that breathing techniques provide some relief, albeit temporarily and after a considerable duration, it suggests that these symptoms may be linked to your breathing patterns. Here are a few general thoughts and suggestions:

  • Breath Focus: You might already be doing this, but focusing on slow, deep breathing can help. This means breathing deeply from the diaphragm rather than shallow breaths from the chest.

  • Relaxation Techniques: Apart from breathing exercises, other relaxation techniques like progressive muscle relaxation, mindfulness, or meditation can sometimes help manage physical symptoms.

  • Physical Activity: Regular exercise can improve overall well-being and reduce stress and anxiety levels, which might indirectly help with your symptoms.

  • Lifestyle Factors: Consider your lifestyle, including diet, sleep, and stress levels. Sometimes, making adjustments in these areas can have a positive impact on physical symptoms.

  • Alternative Therapies: Some individuals find relief through alternative therapies like yoga, acupuncture, or massage therapy. These can help in managing stress and might indirectly impact your symptoms.

Managing long-term symptoms like yours can be complex and often requires a multifaceted approach. I hope you will overcome this very soon.
