Last November I went for my second PAP smear and the results came back abnormal. I believe it was atypical squamous cells of an unknown cause. I have to go back for a new PAP smear to see if it was a fluke or if there is actually something causing it.
Here's the issue:
I finished my last pack of active pills (Yaz) on February 21st. I had planned to take the placebo pills and then start a new pack, but I got a call from my boyfriend on the night of February 22nd that he'd be in town the next week. It was late at night so the pharmacy was closed, so all I could do was take the first placebo pill and then Saturday, February 23rd get my prescription filled and start the new pack of pills because I didn't want to be cranky, ill, or having a period because I wanted to have a nice time.
Well, after being intimate with my boyfriend (we've been together for over 2 years, so it's nothing new), I began bleeding heavily for about 30 minutes. It felt like menstrual pains, too. (Btw, I had also had cramps throughout the week.) This happened yesterday March 1st. I've taken every active pill in this new pack and I had one day of a placebo and then started the new pack. My question is, how likely is it that this whole ordeal is related to my use of the birth control pills? Also, could it be more likely that something is wrong with my cervix? (ie: vaginitis, dysplasia, HPV, etc) My last question: Am I still 99% protected against pregnancy?
I plan to make an appointment with my OBGYN and get a health professionals opinion and get to the bottom of this, but in the mean time I'd like some information, opinions, or advice that anyone can share to help me figure this out.

Hi Irish rain,
I am also on yaz right now and have similar things happen during that time of the month. I will have cramps for a while but wont actually start bleeding until after intercourse. I guess it triggers it or something so I dont think that the results of your pap were because of this. hope everything is ok though!

Just wanted to update. I got another PAP smear done and this time the results are normal. Not sure why they came back abnormal back in November, but glad to know that everything is okay. As far as the bleeding after intercourse, I haven't had anymore of that and I'm pretty sure I just messed up my cycle by taking pink pills when I was supposed to be taking white pills. I'm not going to skip my periods anymore, unless it's just something that I really really need to do, like during finals or midterms or something like that. Oh, and I'm not pregnant either. Hope this helps any future people with the same questions.
