about 8 years ago i decided to stay on 10mg of Paxil while pregnant. Thank Heavens i had a perfectly healthy baby boy. But since then, further research has been done on the drug and pregnancy and my Dr. suggested switching from Paxil to Lexapro if i decide to have another child. He says it is the safer of the two medications during pregnancy. I have not heard this mentioned anywhere else when researching the drugs. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Is Lexapro really less of a risk to the fetus than Paxil?

Wow what you said is surprising. I have read at the following site the complete opposite.

depression.emedtv.com/lexapro/lexapro-and-pregnancy.html

healthyplace.com/lexapro/faqs_6.asp

The 2nd site is a site that I was sent to from Lexapro's website.

My husband and I are meeting with my OB this week for a preconception visit. I have been told by my OB's nurse that I will need to off my birth control, lexapro, and adderall for 2 month before we are to start trying. However, I feel so good and function very well on my lexapro and adderall I want to see what the risk's are. If I can stay on both I will, if it will be too risky I want to find a close 2nd to take.

I will update after my appointment.

Thank you! :-)
