I am 24 and I have just been getting it recently as well although my bloodwork and blood preasure is fine my doctor does think that it can be due to the horomones in birthcontrol I am currently using an IUD (to help with menstrual problems). Girls i suggest that if you are on any kind of birthcontrol to speak to your doctors about maybe trying a different type that has lower doses of horomones ... I do warn you though that with the birthcontrols that have lower horomones even thought they do say that they are just as effective with protecting against pregnancy please take extra caution. Both of my children were born on low horomone birthcontrol even though i was taking them as directed. I hope this is helpfull for everyone.

Okay, guys, listen up; I'm not a physician and therefore cannot give you a specific diagnosis, but I am an EMT and thus knowledgeable about medical emergencies. The symptoms you all are describing could be related, as in the same thing is causing the headache and the nosebleed, they could be more cause-and-effect, like the nosebleed caused the headache, or vice-versa, or possibly the two symptoms are not related at all (not probable). For those of you who have these symptoms simultaneously, it is a good idea to go see your physician; the problem COULD go away, depending on what's causing it, but it might not. Causes for these symptoms run the gamet; it could be something as simple as a sinus infection or dry nasal membranes that have cracked, or it could be a sign of something more serious, like high blood pressure or anemia, and a whole host of other unwholesome, though not so common, causes, like brain tumors or a sign of a pending stroke. And it goes without saying that any recent head trauma could be the root cause as well, so if you've hit your head recently, have it checked out:) Ladies, if you're on birth control, you might be experiencing a horomonal issue. You might need to speak with your physician about changing your birth control, or going with a lower dosage. If you're smoking and/or drinking caffeine or alcohol while on birth control, quit and see if you notice any changes; those chemicals generally don't mix well with birth control. It could be the drugs (both legal and/or illegal varieties) you take causing the issue, especially if they're stimulants, which can cause your blood pressure to spike. Another thing, just throwing this out there for anyone to whom it applies, if you're nosebleeds are gushers, as in you're bleeding heavily for more than a few minutes, consider them emergencies; these nosebleeds should be taken seriously, DO NOT WAIT THEM OUT. If you've already seen your physician, and he/she has ruled out all of the above common causes and then some, and you're still having this problem, you may have to seek out a specialist; your physician should be able to refer you to one.

I know none of this is a definite answer, and this is by no means an exhaustive list of possible causes, but it should give you some direction. If you have these episodes frequently, speak to your doctor about any patterns you've noticed, like it happens a certain time of the month, or after you ingest a certain substance, etc. If your last espisode was your first, try to remember any details like recent changes you've made, i.e. changing to or starting a new medication. The more detailed an account you can give your doctor, the closer you'll be to a solution.

As it happens, I'd within the last 5 years started experiencing migraines accompanied by minor nosebleeds and allergy flare-ups. It was diagnosed as allergic reactions. They happened even more frequently when I started allergy medication, as that dried up my sinus cavities bad. Finally fed up, I cut out smoking, caffeine, alcohol, and allergy medication, and started a simple diet eliminating common food alleries, and guess what? No migraines, nosebleeds, or other allergy related issues since I did that a year ago. I've gradually re-introduced more foods back into my diet, a little at a time, and in doing so, I've isolated the whole issue--portabella mushrooms; 6 years ago, I got hooked on the stupid mushrooms and later had developed an allergic sensitivity to them. Upon adding that back to my diet, all the allergy symptoms came back with a vengence. So it REALLY could be something so simple...

Hey I have a close neighbor who babysits my daughter from time to time and the other day I heard a bang and then my lil girl crying! I ran over and saw her on her knees on the floor and my lil girl on the ground crying.  My baby was fine it was my neighbor I am worried about, she wont go to the doctor and she has had nose bleeds before.  What could this be?

I'm eighteen years old and have some of the same symptoms. It could be anemia, which is what they thought it might have been at first, but if the headaches are more of a pressure go see a doctor. It could be a serious condition called hydrocephalus. Its when brain juice builds up in your skull and doesn't circulate like it should. If left untreated it could lead to death. Mine cleared up on its own, but normally you need to have a stint put in to allow normal drainage. If you have changes in gate and equilibrium as well I'd defiantly be concerned.
