I'm 37 years old and I have a problem with getting and sustaining an errection. I have a wife, we have been in marriage for 8 years now and there have been short term problems with my “performance” in the past too, but they didn’t last too long. Now as I get older this errection issue is becoming more serious, there are more and more times when I just can't get it up at all and its causing a great stress to my marriage. I'm not taking any meds and I have had problems with minor prostate infections and that’s all that I can think of that can be a reason for this issue of mine. What am I supposed to do about this issue? Is it time for me to start taking Viagra?

Well there are many problems that can be related to the penile errection issue. Most of them are psychological in nature, especially in younger men like yourself. Probable causes are lots of stress, anxiety, possible trauma to your reproductive organs, use of some medications, problems with circulation, smokers and alcohol addicts are especially effected. But before we sentence you to dependence on Viagra you should try some other methods of getting the errection, try removing the possible psychological factors like stress, maybe there are some other problems in your relationship that are effecting you and that are causing this errection issue. People with poor circulation, with heart disease, heavy smokers and people with poor physical activity can also have problems with errection. Physical exercise helps with the circulation and it makes men more potent – if youre for example sitting behind a desk and a computer for most of your day that can be the cause too. In short, if you can get a spontaneous errection during sleep or early in the morning then the reason is not organic but psychological in nature. There is no immediate cure for this, I think that both you and your partner should consult your doctor for the further course of action, and using Viagra should be the last option, although it couldn’t hurt if you are a healthy man.
