Hi, folks. My aunt suffers from congestive heart failure and among other drugs, she is also recommended to take furosemide of 40 mg each second day. I have never heard about this drug before, so I will appreciate more info. What are the side effects? Can anyone help me with this?

Hi, there. Furosemide is indeed recommended for congestive heart failure and edema. It can show side effects. One of the effects is the loss of potassium. If one does not pay attention, a patient can easily slip into hypokalemia. It can also disturb balance of other electrolytes. I am talking about calcium, sodium and magnesium. Your aunt should follow the instructions of a doctor. I hope everything will be fine. Bye!
