Hello, I have Chron’s disease for three years now. During that period there were good and bad times. I had one intervention on the lower part of colon and I have been using all sorts of medications, Azathioprine was the most used, after that Asacol and steroids. I would like to know which one of these three meds is the best for my condition?

Steroids are drugs that are actually glucocorticoids by their chemical structure. They have a lot of effects, among them anti inflammatory effect being the most important. Azathioprine and Asacol are drugs that are most commonly used in dealing with Chron’s disease. The have a high affinity to colon, so their effect is strongest tin that area and also have anti inflammatory effect. I think that you should leave choice of drugs to your doctor; you are having a serious condition after all.
