I had mines over 30 years so do you think the saline will work for me???? I've seen a plastic surgeon but it's very expensive. Since mines is so old will I need to go more then 10 times. I really need to get this resolved. Sorry to babble on but it's been years with this disfigurement and I feel like I'm about to lose it

I am going through the same thing now. It has been about 5 months and the indentation seems to still be getting deeper. Did you find any way to remedy it? At no time was I told this was a possibility nor did I even ask for the shot in the first place. I asked for my usual steroid cream for a rash on my arm and my dermatologist talked me into a cortisone shot for immediate relief. I trusted his judgement. His assistant gave the shot after he left the room. When he saw the indent afterwards, he said it was due to the injection being given wrong. He said it had been "botched". Please tell me yours filled in over time or you found a treatment... I hope so for both your sake and mine.

Hi, I am experiencing this indenting from steroid shots into keloids on my shoulder and it's been 6 months and one week...I wondered how many months it of no improvement before you started to see improvement- your original shot was 14 months at the time of your post but did it take that long for it to begin to improve? If so, that's fine with me because I'm hoping there's still hope even after 6, 7 or whatever months. Any info is very much appreciated.

I have EXACTLY the same thing! I had steroid injections for bursitis about 5 times over years...nothing ever showed. Then when my doctor stopped doing this he sent me to a pain clinic. BINGO!!! LARGE, you could hide a golf ball in, size hole. Most doctors won't see you after you are being treated by another for the same thing but I got in at my old doctor and he casually said injection was not done correctly and not in the bursa. That's all I could get out of him. I have pictures I would post if someone would tell me how. I'm interested in what your doctor tells you about a visit to the dermatologist.

You are so right about the negative vs positive. We are such a vain race, aren't we. But I do not like the indent! I wish there were something that would fix it. I'm 68 so I should be getting over trying to look good, shouldn't I? Well, I'm not. I wear leggings because they do not bind so it shows 'biggly'. Jeans hit the spot on my back that is one of my medical problems and sweats do too, and anything with the least resistance to bend my hip just causes more pain to walk. You can see the 'hole' easily through my leggings. I wear the longer shirts, of course, so that helps. The 'place' is just skin and bone. Not one centimeter of flesh between. Since one of my issues is my hip, I fear the muscle that holds the joint in place will deteriorate to the point that I won't have enough muscle there when I need the hip replacement. I have no pain at the sight. But I also have no flesh except for skin over the bone.

Since my 'divot' I have pain down the outside of my leg running from injection site to my ankle. Knee hurts bad to walk. I am so torn as to what to do. Doctor wants to give injection in my back on the nerve that is affected but now I'm afraid to do anything more.

It, in my personal opinion, is definitely a 'who done it' case. I had bursa steroid injections over many years from my orthopedic doctor. ALWAYS had immediate relief when I got off the table. Piece of cake:) So when he retired I went to a pain specialist. They should be the experts, right? Received two steroid shots in my bursa sac over approx. 3-4 months.......BOOM! GOLF BALL SIZE HOLE APPEARED! FINALLY got my old dr. to see me. without saying so but implying he said injection was not all the way in the bursa sac or deep enough, maybe just off site a centimeter, it's very specific. The steroid 'thins' the tissue it comes in contact with and since it was not in the correct site it did it's job outside in good tissue.
