Risks with the breast reduction include loss of skin, loss of sensation, bleeding after the surgery, infection, permanent visible scarring, deformity of the breasts because one is not equal, or lower than the other, one is larger than the other. These, of course, should all be explained to the patient. If they should occur, it should be explained that they are trading the size of the breasts for the scars and other risks that they would might encounter.
