I'm not the only one with this issue. I've determined that its the softener in the toilet paper that I'm allergic to. (I'm also allergic to liquid fabric softener, it causes the same horrible itch.) I finally found a toilet paper that I could use without itching, Fiora. I was able to use it for a year or more until the last time I went to buy it I saw it was "improved and softer". I figured I would try it, since I'd been pleased with that brand up until then and I really didn't have an option, the old style was no longer available. I should have known better than to try it. Sorry for the details but the itching came back,as bad as ever, and now there was inflammation as well. GRRRR For now, I'm attempting to altogether stop using tp and usie a washcloth. I'm going to look for some hy[oallergenic toilet paper next time I'm in the store.

I read somewhere that most toilet papers on the market have their rolls bleached, formaldehyde etc. In general? The bulks and bulks of paper mess up your hormones. BPA or BPS (or both).

I wish I lived near a Costco. All the others leave little balls of paper and I itch all the time. I have tried them all but not Kirkland. Guess I will have to take a trip and buy a membership plus buy several months of toilet paper. It is driving me crazy.

THANK YOU!!!! I have been having the same issue and since I am highly allergic to formaldehyde (developed asthma and had to retire early because of labs using preserved animals for dissections). On a hunch, I decided to google to see if toilet paper contains formaldehyde...and it DOES!! I am a member of Costco and plan to try the Kirkland brand TODAY!! Thank you so much.

Just 2 clear things up, U CAN B ALLERGIC 2 TOILET PAPER! My daughter is 6 years old & was constantly having itching, burning, & a rash would appear in her crotch & on her legs. She had tests 4 yeast infection, vaginal infection, bacteria infection, ect. Finally we were sent 2 an allergist that tested her, she was allergic. Unfortunately the ingredient they used 2 test her is in all paper products.

I found your post, for the last 3 yes I have been bothered by your same problem. I have used Scott tissue all my life. Was diagnosed via biopsy with lichen planus infection. I noticed that being somewhere else and using a different toilet cleared me up in 3 days. It happened 3 times. I got rid of the Scott tissue and the problem has not flared up again. I think the paper may have lichen in the wood it's made from some one should look in to it.

It's the formaldehyde. Kirkland's doesn't have formaldehyde in theirs. It's sickening how pervasive the offending chemical is. Glad you found one that works. We also use theirs without a problem. Thankfully!!

Purex is good too. I have the same issue and s does my sister. Royale is the worst for me, but we're in Canada and not sure I've ever used Scott.

OMG Kirkland is the worst for me. I can't handle the dyes that are used in their paper.

I've had this problem for the last 7 years, and just now the light bulb came on it might be the TP.. However, I used to think it was the TP at my work but I left that company two months ago and the problem has come back twice from then... I've also been using Kirland for the last 7 years so it has to be that brand .... I'm going to change it out today...

I have literally used Scott tissue my whole life. I grew up in a household where that was THE only toilet paper allowed because of our septic tank, so that's what I kept on buying for myself as an adult. Sometime during the last year I started to experience itching and burning. I have always had weird allergic reactions to things, so I just assumed that it was something I was eating--like too much sugar, so I cut it way back, but still the itching and burning persisted. I changed soap, body wash, detergent, lotions...everything I could think of, but nothing helped. I went to my doctor thinking I had some form of yeast infection with no discharge and he even diagnosed me with it! I did the treatment for it and still the itching came back almost immediately. I finally had one of those "ahha" moments in the middle of the night, so I bought a different brand of TP (Charmin Ultra) and my itching and burning has almost completely subsided! I could kick myself for not thinking about trying something this simple (and obvious) sooner.
