I have been on track for the last few years because I am on the pill and my partner uses protection, but I still fear that something might have gone wrong within the last two weeks, and even though I am having my period, a full blown one, I might add, with tons of bleeding, because I have seen shows where you have your period, and are still pregnant. I don;t show any other symptoms, just the ending emotions I get at the end of my period. I'm afraid to take a test because I am afraid it will turn out positive. Is it possible?

Hi Weatherwatcher,

You WILL NOT have a period while you are pregnant.  During your period the lining of your uterus is shed so if you were pregnant you would miscarry.

But, YOU CAN have some bleeding and it can even appear somewhat like a period.  However, it is normally not as heavy as a normal period and your description of "tons of bleeding" makes it seem unlikely.

You need to wait at least 2 weeks after having sex to take a home test.  Be sure to use your first morning urine for the best accuracy.  You can test during your period.

Good luck.

Thank you. And I took two tests yesterday, within 12 hours of each other. They both confirmed negative. And I have been worried since about a week prior to my period. I just worried that I was bleeding and then worried I was pregnant.
