Hi! I am 42 and I had vasectomy reversal almost 2 weeks ago for this is my second marriage and I would like to have another kid. Anyway I was told that the surgery went fine but still I have the bruised scrotum and I am pretty much worried about it. And it is not just bruised scrotum about for I also feel pain that seems is not decreasing and yet there is some scrotum swelling. So what are the possible side effects of vasectomy reversal and should I be still worried over bruised scrotum?

It is normal having your scrotum painful and swelled after vasectomy reversal and also discoloration is possible after this surgery though I think that bruised scrotum are not that common after vasectomy reversal. I was taking acetaminophen to reduce the pain after this surgery and I remember I was putting some ice pack to reduce the swelling and it helped and I also was having bruised scrotum and it was becoming lighter until it has disappeared after 3 weeks or so. Usually the vasectomy reversal is successful and these issues such bruised scrotum is are quite normal so you shouldn’t be worry about that. But the things you should be worry about after the surgery is done might be bleeding within the scrotum, inflammation and infection on the surgery site and also one of the possible side effects of vasectomy reversal could be nerves and blood vessels damage though this is quite rare. So if you have fever or persistent swelling followed by difficult urination and bleeding from the surgery incision than call your doc.
