I have a question which may add to more research in what causes constant itching in the scrotum. Yes, I dealt with this problem quite a few times and found out it was a fungus. Why I was getting it is unknown. I have not had the problem for a good few years when the itching, tickling, stinging feelings all came back again. I saw my Dermatologist who helped cleared up the fungus in the past and although I had all the symptoms he saw no fungus present, but meanwhile in these past few months I found out that I had a very large groin hernia and just had the surgery to repair it with mesh a few days ago. I found out the after the surgery that the hernia was spreading into my scrotum which caused some swelling these past few months. Right now my scrotum has swelled up to the size of a football and is all black and blue. I know this is normal after a hernia surgery repair but the itching became so unbearable now. I'll see my surgeon for a post op follow up on Tuesday and I'll go to my urologist if I need too, but I'm starting to wonder if the hernia problem was the cause of all my itching and discomfort for all these months. My surgeon did say my scrotum was swollen when he first examined me in October and with the way I'm itching now while its the size of a football, I'm starting to believe the hernia or the effects of it may be the cause. I probably wont know for sure until I'm completely healed and the swelling is gone. Does anyone know anything more about this?
