I have gotten the depo shot about 6 times now and I am just now feeling the horrible symptom of depression. It has ruined my life and I can't wait for it to be over... My depression is SEVERE and I honestly feel like I can't take it. I have a tight knot feeling in my chest that just won't go away. It's affected my relationship of 3 years horribly because all I do is get sad, and cry. FOR NO REASON. I can't wait for this to go away... Depo.provera is a nightmare!!

I keep coming back to read through replies I already read and read more. I feel like I'm living in a  nightmare. Unfortunately my fiance has to live through it with me (God bless him for doing so!). Never mind all of my physical symptoms- nausea, cramping (no bleeding), bloating, digestive upset (which sometimes is an understatement), being tired, hot flashes, chills and the mental stuff- doubting, hopelessness, depression, anxiety, paranoia .... but then all the stuff that is getting in the way of what was a super healthy relationship. Sex drive is nonexistant (and that's not me) but little things set me off and I have been working to bite my tongue so not to snap at my love (since I know deep down it's irrational because of the hormones)... he has stuck by me because he knows.. he's even the one who pushed to get this poison out of my system.. but he just wants 'me' back.. and I do too! I swear my body hates me. And I don't blame it. I can't believe this stuff is still on the market.... I've been on many other forums trying to find answers and it turns out that depo is probably the reason my gallbladder quit working... how depressing. To know that I literally killed part of my body... but I am trying not to dwell on what has already occurred and am trying very hard to push forward and find health. For all of you wondering- I have read (though they are few and far between because it seems that no one who has finally gotten to the other side comes back to tell the rest of us) that it WILL get better and that your body WILL return to normal.. time frame is different for everyone (makes sense) but to JUST HANG ON, because it does level out when the stuff is out of your system and your body can regulate its own hormones again. But health is important in that happening- eat super healthy, exercise, meditate, take vitamins- basically do everything you can to HELP your body......

God Bless.

I am 5 months since my last depo shot and have been constantly bleeding since my first injection 10 months ago.

I have been searching for answers on how to diminish the effects of depo since I started and recently decided to put together a survey (I am a statistician by trade, so I'm naturally curious anyway).

If you are currently taking depo or have stopped, please take 2 minutes to fill out my survey. I can share the results with you if you'd like, but I will NEVER ever use your information for anything other than calculating results.

Thanks! I hope this helps get some answers!

Omg I thought I was the only one that was going through this . I recently got the depo shot and a few days later I started feeling extremely weak. Now its constant headaches its driving me crazy ! I feel so weak (especially in my arms)and light headed its so annoying my boyfriend didn't like the idea of me getting the shot but I just wanted to be responsible. but now i feel like this is the worst decision I ever made. This is the first and last time I'll ever have a depo shot. it's making me miserable & on edge!

Can anyone help me? My partner had our first child in August and the doctor recommended the depo shot,in November she had her first shot and within 2 weeks all hell broke loose,my happy fiancé is moody, has no sex drive (I'm lucky to get a cuddle) and our relationship is declining rapidly :-( I see many women that have been through this and was wondering if there was certain things your partners did that maybe made you feel better, more relaxed? I'm struggling for ideas and I am NOT willing to let this stupid drug take away my son or my fiancé (we have already broke up twice) I just want her back how she was!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Thank you so much for coming back! This is what I needed, I just had my third panic attack I'm so exhausted I was so happy before I took this shot and after my second dose I wasn't sure what was happening until I read online that the shot was causing my anxiety! Im trying to find people who have recovered who have fought through this because I really need to know if I'm going to be okay after this is out of my system

I'm going crazy, was taking provera as pills,  just took them last week. Will never take them again. I am sensible person to begin with and this pills made me to a cry mashine to the point not wanting to leive ,I didn't know what was going on till I googled and read....I'm still on the effects. I even quit my stressful job thinking that the crying was caused from it. i don't regret the job situation but it's scary to know that a pill that is suppose to help you can ruin and mess your life this way....
