Hello,
I am 22 years old and have been taking Effexor for 6 years! I am just starting to get off. During this time I have noticed I went from 119 to 133 and I am completely stuck on 133 cant go any lower but I go higher!

The symptoms of going off really bad. I feel dizzy, I get hotflashes, I get chills, I CRY alll the time, I am always tired--- i wake up late yet I could go to sleep any time of the day.

I was wondering.. once I am completely done with taking effexor will I be able to lose my weight?? will I be able to budge 133 back to 119

You should be able to get off the Effexor but I think that you need to talk to a physician about doing it safely! It is very hard to do it. Please be careful with it. But yes, after you get off the drugs, you might be able to lose the weight, but you'll have to do it the old-fashioned way through exercise and diet. Does this help?

That person is right it is very difficult to do. You want to do it as slowly as possible. It seems regular primary care physicians arent' that educated on anti-depressants and I do not feel any doctor can truly understand what a "brain zinger" or a electric shock feeling through your head feels like.
I went to the standard Effexor - not the XR. These are tablets that can be cut into small pieces plus you have to take them twice a day. You can just lower your dose at am then once you feel better lower it slowly at night. I mean AS SMALL AS POSSIBLE. Here i was at the end taking like a crumb of a pill. When I did not take that small piece of pill I felt horrible. I have been functioning. Just needed a nap one day but other than that I've been pretty good. Now that I'm not taking it at all I am feeling incredibly irritated and crying at the drop of a hat. I haven't really noticed any weight change but I haven't weighed myself. Definitely have some cravings and am hungry after I ate 2 hours before. Well, I hope this was helpful and check out the other discussion boards because there are tons of posts about this on here. People have mentioned Benadryl to help them I took some Fish Oil hard to say if it helped or not.

I'm glad to hear about your experiences and thanks for contributing. I know one person who dissolved their tabs in water and just took suspended solutions for awhile. I don't know if it worked but it sounded like a good idea.
