Hi,
Ive been taking klonopin for about 20 days 1mg tab twice a day.
the reason the docter put me on this is because i was having heart palpations. everyday none stop. he seemed to think it was anxiety, but i dont! at first i didnt take the klonopin correctly i would take one, one day then not take it again for a day or so cause i heard they were very addictive. but my heart kept beating out of my chest, which scares me to death so i thought i would give it a shot. expecially because i cant get in to see the cardiallogist till a month. now i see him in 5 days from now so 20 days ago i started taking it right its the only thing i knew to do till i see the cardialogist. but i feel no diffrent with taking the klonopin at all. at first it just made me really sleepy thats all. what do you think? all the klonopin withdrawls i have read on here really scare me, because i dont think i even had anxiety Ill find out in 5 days i guess and go from there hopefully i wont have trouble coming off the klonopin!

having heart palpations does not just come from anxiety. It also coule be if your a female you are starting to go through your changes. have you had your thyroid checked by a good thyroid doctor. You can have a normal total TSH level but if your T3 levels are high this will cause heart palpations, feel like your heart is pounding a mile a minute and it's not - also contributes to anxiety. There is a very strong connection between
anxiety and thyroid problems.
As for klonopin my doctor gave that to me I am a women who has no thyroid and going through my changes. Klonopin has just made things worse because one of the side effects of klonopin can be increased anxiety since it is usually used to treat panic attacks and seizures which
is very different then anxiety. Granted some people swear by it I don't.
I have been on it .5mg at bedtime for about 10 days and I am coming off it - it makes me feel sick, tingling, it has increased my anxiety, I am positive it is having a negative impact on my thyroid medication or my HRT.

I find it odd that your Dr would prescribe Klonopin for heart palpitaions since I am going through Klonopin withdrawals and heart paplitations are one of the possible side effects.
I would seek a second opinion.

Hi,
I am just responding to your doctor's decision to give you benzo's. In my experience, if you have never taken benzos before, don't start taking them. There are other natural anti-anxiety and heart medicines that can help greatly. I am a very high anxiety person, so naturally I enjoyed the feeling from Klonipin,Xanax, etc...Unbeknownst to me, withdrawal from suddenly stopping them can cause seizures and death. I have had 3 grand mal's from benzodiazapines, 2 were almost fatal, not from taking them, but from my body coming off of them. After a while it seems you need a constant dosage in your blood or you don't feel right.
Also, they shut down parts of the brain, parts containing/persisting with reasoning/judgement, etc.
I was able to get myself off of them with the use of morphine and marijuana, which are coincidentally natural!
I would say no to benzos and try something non benzo if you want a pharma drug...

I have been taking klonopin for about 8 months.  Somehow I am short 2 pills.  My doctor refuses to give me 2 additional pills.  I went to the ER and they gave me .5 valium...It is not working!  I feel like I am having a heart attack.  My left breast has sharp pains there, I am shaing, sweating, chills, nervous.  I can't drive, and feel confined to by bed.  This is terrible!  My new presc can be picked up tomorrow (Sat).  I need to change doctors.

The Dr. cannot give you 2 pills. Klonopin is a controlled subsance. Even if the Dr. had given you a prescription for it the pharmacy will not fill it before the 30 days are up per the laws regarding this class of drugs. I had this problem once years ago so now I stand at the pharmacy and count my pills before I leave with them as they do make mistakes. I found out about this when my purse was stolen which had my meds. in it. One of the major reasons I never run out and am non-stop cutting back (yes, still since 2000) after taking them for 30 years. I cannot stress enough a bad drug to start and even worse to stop. Takes forever to completely taper off and then quit as it has the withdrawal symptoms lasting as long as 2 years after you completely quit from many I've spoke with. I wish you the best, this too shall pass.
