I had a hemrroid that had to be removed. I did not do any research before having the surgery. It has been horrifying, extreme pain and bleeding. I am not sure if bleeding a lot after the surgery is normal. I wear a pad and its almost like a light period. I hesitate to call my Dr. because they seem to be very uncaring. When I called for a refill for pain pills, which barely do anything to relieve the excruciating pain, I was treated like I may be wanting to use them for fun. Has anyone else made the same horrible decision? When does the pain stop? I am afraid to eat because the BM's are so painful. I have tried everything I can think of to get relief. Sitz bath (does relieve the burning after BM) all topical medications on market. My family Dr. called in some Lidocaine. I have an Aloe plant. I eat high fiber. I eat fruits and soups. Someone please help me.

I am three weeks out from having a hemorrhoidectomy and still have a couple of bloody bowel movements. You are still early in the game. You need to allow about 4-6 weeks for a recovery. It may not be fully recovered, but you will begin to feel yourself. Have you tried over the counter pain meds? You can alternate taking ibuprofen and acteminophen. Check out my posting of "helpful aids for post hemorrhoidectomy surgery".

Try adding Metamucil to your daily routine, the kind you mix in water. it may take a day or two to start working but it does help soften the stool so that it is not so hard to pass.
Make sure you drink plenty of water- 6 big glasses a day
Try to walk some every day, this helps to move your bowels. I am 6 months post surgery and I still take sitz baths.
I agree with the previous post, take ibuprofen in between the vicodin or percoset doses, this helps with swelling. ask your dr, but you can take 600mg of ibuprofen 4 times a day.
