Well if your taking lexapro for mild anxiety and depression than I would say YES of course come off of it! BUT for someone like myself who has severe anxiety and depression its not really an option to come off of my meds. If I was to stop taking my lexapro I would be unable to work and would be having panic attacks left and right, and for those of us who get Panic attacks (and i mean panic attacks all day and anxiety from the time you wake up until the time you go to bed, im no talking about panic attacks that happen once or twice a year!) it simply isnt an option. I def. am nervous about being pregnant and staying on lexapro but I really dont have another option. I've been on the other safe drugs and have had bad experiences with all of them and most of them dont have the anywhere near the same effect on my anxiety then the lexapro does.

So to answer your question if you need your meds than stay on them. I'm a nurse and cleft lip and palate can be genetic and also can be with lack of nutrients. Also I would check up on the Seroquel effects and in regards to the Xanax i would prob avoid unless your having a killer panic attack.

Hope this helps

I definately would not get on xanax while pregnant. That is a drug that should not be used for long term. I was on it before I got on Lexapro and it seriously screwed me up. Two different doctors said that xanax is not the best drug to be taking. If you need something while pregnant Lexapro or Paxil would be better than Xnax. In any case...ask your doctor and talk to him about if the benefits outweigh the risk.

I definitely agree with the post above. I have such debilitating panic disorder that if I got off of my 15 mg of Lexapro daily I would be completely unable to function. I am 7 weeks pregnant and had been on 10 mg of Lexapro and felt wonderful. However, my psychiatrist failed to mention that my anxiety could potentially get worse with the surge in hormones during pregnancy. So here I am. I might need to move up to 20 mg, I will just have to play it by ear. But if the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the baby, you should not discontinue your medication.

Xanax is a narcotic and SHOULD NOT be taken during pregnancy! My ob said that lexapro would be safe for me to take even through third trimester! When I questioned birth defects she said and I quote "I cannot guarantee no birth defects but if it the baby has birth defects it won't be from LEXAPRO!

I took a pregnancy test two days after taking only one pill for my first time and it’s saying I am pregnant which me and my boyfriend have been trying. Could it be a false positive?
