Hi, I'm on Day 14 of taking 5 mg lisinopril. The slight dry cough that I was expecting has become a chronic. I almost cannot talk, I can't sleep, throat lozenges aren't cutting it, and it sounds like it's not going to go away anytime soon. I'll ask the doctor this week what else I could be taking, instead lisinopril, with fewer side effects. In the first few days I noticed a bout with heavy night-sweats and diarrhea. Both symptoms went away and I haven't experienced light-headedness. The scratchy throat and cough is the main problem for me, so I would like to hear if anyone lese experienced this side effect from lisinopril. Thanks.

Hello, I've been on Lisinopril (Zestril) 10mg, for at least ten years. I have to say that it has worked pretty well for me. I'm now 60 years old and I’ve never noticed real side effects. Well, there was a little bit of a cough, but I've always been prone to that. Anyway so I could not say for sure, I think I am doing fine. This is not the first time I hearing that people have allergic reaction on Lisinopril.

I have been on Lisinopril for 1 year. For the first 9 mo the cough was a minor nuisance but recently the cough has become a big problem. I wondered why so I called the Pharmacy and found out they recently changed their supply source from Teva Pharm to Lupin Pharm. What a difference. I am now searching for a Pharmacy that supplies the Teva Brand. Rosie

I used lisinipril for a couple of weeks and got about 4 months of severe non-producing coughing. I thought I was dying slowly. Doctors couldn't diagnose the cough because I never took lisinipril after the first couple of weeks.

hi i took lisinipril x10-14 days---got heartburn --i had cough too. but i ultimately ending up having GERDS---i believe it was caused from the lisinipril---heartburn started with taking the med, i very rarely had heartburn prior to being on med... the cough might be associated with acid backing up your esophagus--irritating your larynx....causing a cough...

I had 2 strokes before fially being put on Lisinipril/HcTZ. The chronic cough is so bad I have to keep cough drops on hand at all times. But I would rather have the cough than the alternative. I work for a GI Dr and I too ended up with GERD after starting the meds, it's caused from the constant coughing.

Yes I was on Lisinopril and it only took me a couple of months to figure out that something was making me cough and cough bigtime so I asked my doctor to change it because she said yes Lisinopril will make you cough but i was coughing like you coughed so much i was horse. I now take Metoprol Tar 25mg. Two times a day. No side effects that I know of. But i will never take Lisinopril again but my brother and mother take it with no problems.
