I have been diagnosed with Systemic lupus erythematosus, a condition that I know is going to progress in the future. I have experienced lupus on my legs on and off for the past few years, for instance, but I am now facing an attack that seems much worse than anything I had before. I know that I should not have exposed my legs to sunlight as much as I did this year, but I was on holiday and, well, it happened. It is itching and hurting terribly now (months after my holiday). Has anyone got any new ideas on what I can do to alleviate the symptoms at least? Ideas on alternative medication are also welcome.

To be honest, there is not much that you can do to stop it. I have had lupus for years now, and in the end you just get used to the burning and itching. If it stops you from sleeping to the point that you have trouble concentrating in the day time, the only thing that I can think of that may help you is to ask for medication that will help you to sleep. You know, sleeping tablets of some kind. Do check that they are compatible with lupus medication though.
