I have been taking Lutera for a month and I was wondering if it was ok to have unprotected sex with my boyfriend?

No. Unless you want the risk of pregnancy then I say no. Also you have to worry about STDs as well.

While the Lutera may be working as intended, and has been doing so after the first week of starting your use of it, it would still be a good idea to use a secondary birth control such as condoms. Not only does this help to prevent accidental pregnancy should the Lutera fail for some reason, it also helps protect against STDs.
The choice, however is yours. No one can tell you what to do. You will, however, I am sure, do the right thing.

What if I know for a fact that he doesn't have a STD because he got tested? Would the birth control start working within a month?

Impossible unless he is a virgin cause men cannot be tested for HPV. He could have it and not know it. It's this reason why it's possibly the most common STI out there.
Yes the birth control should start working within the month.

Actually, men can be tested for HPV, they just have to tell the dr specifically because it is not included in the regular std testing.
